Woke up in Sicily and got to eat breakfast looking at a smoking Mount Etna. We took a tour up to the top of the mountain and were surrounded by lava rocks. In some spots it reminded us of Sudbury Ontario in the 70’s.
We took a tour of a couple of inactive craters but were not allowed near the smoking one. They promised us it wouldn’t erupt while we were there.
After we returned from the mountain we toured Catania which is the 2nd biggest city in Sicily next to Palermo. We navigated our way to the Piazza Duomo as we do in all Italian towns and found a wonderful church.
We tried a Pomegranate Spritz which is the local specialty. They were fantastic but we stopped at one having to navigate our way back to the ship.
Tomorrow is a sea day. It will be our first full day of rest since we started our tour
