We started the day by hitting the Mercato Centrale which is a vibrant food market surrounded by market stalls. We then did our favourite thing and went "off grid" wandering around the back streets of Florence discovering the non-tourist areas of the city. We had lunch at a Piazza only frequented by locals and cherished the experience.
Thunderstorms were threatening so we took cover in our hotel room for the afternoon until Aperitivo hour. We did it properly today (unlike yesterday) waiting until after 6pm and then having a late dinner afterwards.
Off to Rome in the morning for a 4 day jaunt before we head off on our cruise.
