We are learning the intricacies of the Italian rail system where watching the Partenze (Departure Board) seems to be the country's favourite pastime. Once on the train however it was amazing as we made it from Milan to Florence in under 2 hours and the train reached speeds of 300km per hour. Contrast that to Saturday's trip where it took us 7 hours to go half the distance.
Florence is an amazing place. It has a completely different vibe to Milan. The tourists don't seem quite so bad here although it was the hottest day of our trip so far. It is a very walkable city and pedestrians seem to have the right of way over vehicles.
We visited the Duomo di Firenze and the Ponte Vecchio before engaging in Florence's most important ritual - Aperitvo Hour.
We are keeping a close eye on the situation in France as several stops are incuded in our Itinerary. We may look at adjusting our travel schedule if things do not improve.
