It was a rainy and overcast day in Milan. It felt like a Canadian mid-fall day. We toured the Duomo di Milano which was spectacular however the surrounding piazza was overcrowded with tourists. We ventured through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele with its’ wonderful marble floors over to the historic La Scala opera house.
Tired of the overcrowding, we ventured off-grid to a non tourist area and had an authentic Pizza Margherita for lunch. We would have liked to explore more of Milan however train delays yesterday along with laundry demands and bad weather cut into our discovery time.
We are on an early morning train to Florence tomorrow. Our brief time in Milan has whet our appetite to come back and explore it properly some day.
